Robert Greenwald

The director has handled projects ranging from the lightweight Olivia Newton John vehicle Xanadu to the hardhitting documentary Uncovered: The War on Iraq.

After working as a theatre director in New York and Los Angeles, he created his own production company RGP - Robert Greenwald Productions.

Since its creation, RGP has produced almost 50 films and attracted 25 Emmy and two Golden Globe nominations.

He made his directorial debut in 1977 with the TV drama Sharon: Portrait of a Mistress and went on to helm more TV films until Xanadu.

He went on to make TV movies with a social theme such as battered wives (The Burning Bed) and the maltreatment of prisoners (Forgotten Prisoners) but was more active as a producer.

Subsequent big screen outings included the thriller Hear No Evil with Martin Sheen, Steal This Movie about 60s radical Abbie Hoffman and Breaking Up, starring Russell Crowe and Salma Hayek.

In 2001, she shifted to documentary work with Unprecedented: The 2000 Presidential Election, which focussed on the vote counting scandal in Florida.

Recent work has included Uncovered: The War on Iraq, a documentary about the Bush regime's justification for invading Iraq.
