Kirstie Alley
Born: 12 January 1951
Where: Wichita, Kansas
Kirstie has made a name for herself as both a wacky comic and an impressive dramatic actor primarily on the small screen.
First known as the beautiful Vulcan Lt. Saavik in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan in 1982, Alley struggled through a string of unrewarding roles in the early 1980s before gaining a bit of prestige in TV series' in 1985.
She got her big break in 1987 as the female lead opposite Ted Danson in the long-running and popular sitcom Cheers.
This small screen success led to movie stardom as a flustered single mom in the surprise 1989 hit Look Who's Talking and its the less successful sequels Look Who's Talking Too and Look Who's Talking Now.
She went on to gain respect as a dramatic actress with her brilliant Emmy-winning performance as David's Mother in the 1994 series, adding to her other Emmy and the Golden Globe she won for Cheers.
Kirstie's film career has never really lived up to her small screen success but she did get some joy in features such as John Carpenter's Village of the Damned, It Takes Two with Steve Guttenberg and the Olsen twins, and Woody Allen's Deconstructing Harry.
