A bleached-blonde, spiky-haired Christopher Lambert plays a man-on-the-run in this stylish French thriller from director Luc Besson. After robbing valuable papers from a safe at a party, Lambert escapes via a street-ripping car chase to the Paris Metro. He then phones the host of the party, Isabelle Adjani, and offers to give the papers back to her for cash, or preferably, a date. She agrees, but brings the police with her and another break-neck chase ensues through the maze of the Metro system. Lambert evades his pursuers again by stumbling into the maintenance tunnels where he meets a weird mob of subterranean outcasts and fugitives, including the excellent Richard Bohringer, who protect him from police and pursuers alike.
