Cuddly Dudley Moore tried to reverse his fortunes after two box office bombs (Six Weeks and Lovesick) in a film version of Bernard Slade's hit Broadway play. With this tale of two playwrights who team up with varying personal and professional success he rather unluckily scored a hat-trick, as the end product, although enjoyable in parts, and with a good performance by Mary Steenburgen, ends up being neither very romantic nor very funny. Steenburgen plays the other writer and she and Moore battle hard against a script and pacing that lack the snap and crackle this type of comedy needs.
