Jonathan Mostow
Born: 28th November 1961
Where: USA
Mostow established himself as a failsafe director of action movies with U-571, a submarine thriller starring Harvey Keitel.
The number one box office hit attracted two Oscar nominations and led to Mostow taking the helm for Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.
A graduate of Harvard, Mostow directed short films, documentaries and music videos before making his first feature in 1989, the direct-to-video release Beverly Hills Bodysnatchers.
He made his feature debut with Breakdown, starring Kurt Russell, in 1997, an underrated thriller which failed to take off with audiences.
He had spent several years developing Breakdown and The Game, penning an early draft of the latter with the hope of directing.
Instead, David Fincher landed the job behind the camera and Mostow was relegated to an executive producer credit.
Mostow went on to co-found a production company with Hal Lieberman, and signed a four-year deal with Universal.
In 2000, he directed one of his biggest movies, the WWII-era submarine film U-571, with a cast of established players, including Harvey Keitel, Bill Paxton, and Matthew McConaughey.
Recently, he wrote and directed the latest saga in the Terminator series - Terminator 3: The Rise of the Machines.
