A fine central performance from Joanne Woodward, an intellegent script and sound direction from Jeff Bleckner all help lift this TV film about a woman suffering from Alzheimer's disease above the usual maudlin `disease of the week' drama. Woodward plays a college professor whose thoughts become progressively more fleeting and her memory more confused. The problem diagnosed, she becomes aware that she is doomed to a premature, rushing senility. It sounds pretty grim, but Vickie Patnik's script gives her characters defiance, strength and courage. Able support for Woodward comes from Richard Kiley as her husband and Geraldine Fitzgerald as her mother.
