'If we have a nuclear war,' says Kirstie Alley in the course of this not unfunny comedy, 'the only things to survive will be house guests.' Mark and Jessie (John Larroquette, Alley) have a cosy home that suits them fine until other people move into it. An old friend with a pregnant wife who talks non-stop and commandeers the bathroom. Jessie's spendthrift sister who moves in with her massive boyfriend after being kicked out by her rich Arab husband. A cat with nine lives. The man next door and his awful kids after his house burns down. An elephant. The sister's cocaine-dealing son. Mark has nightmares about zombies moving in, and soon he and Jessie are living in a tent on the lawn. It's not exactly frantically funny all the way through, but it does build to a fine pitch of madness towards the end. And there's always the nagging feeling that this could happen to you!
