Sam Neill in a comedy? Well why not, Sam can do anything. He's Mr Rent-a-Big Name. Here he's a short-order chef in a very unfashionable part of Melbourne trying to sort himself out, who proceeds to make his life far more complicated as he he gets sucked into an affair, drug-dealing and murder. On top of all this, he's got an over-bearing mother. Surprising to know what personal tragedy went into preparing a Wimpey and chips! Actually, Irish-born Neill, who was raised in New Zealand, is excellent as as the none too bright hero and he seems to enjoy himself immensely. A nice little Australian nugget (chicken nugget, even).
