Director Stan Dragoti's other comedies - 'Mom', 'Love at First Bite', 'She's Out of Control'- have all had their moments, but here he's working on a Hollywood remake of a French original that wasn't funny in the first place. A terrific cast - Tom Hanks, Lori Singer, Dabney Coleman, Carrie Fisher, Jim Belushi, Charles Durning - works a bit too hard to make something of it, and even Hanks' fall-guy hero isn't as likeable as he should be. Some fun, though, from the odd good line and a couple of well-paced action sequences.
