Uma Thurman appears in an early role in this story of a father (Dabney Coleman) who, wanting to teach his offspring the value of money, takes the harsh step of throwing them out of the house to live on the streets. Written and directed by the formidable John Boorman, it develops as a comedy, but the plot still strains credibility, even though the cast try to carry the weak satire off as best they can. Boorman's direction is superior to his screenplay on this one.
