This light and often amusing canter through the Faust legend enabled George Burns to end his three-film stint as God on a relatively celestial note and play The Devil into the bargain. A bargain, of course, is just what hapless hero Ted Wass makes when he sells his soul (for a way out of financial ruin) to a Devil who drives around in a red sports car with the licence number HOT. Not, as Burns points out, that Satan needs the work, as Heaven is only half full and has had to close down its main dining hall. Good support from Ron Silver as a fast-talking executive with a record company.
