This TV remake of the mildly amusing Forties Barbara Stanwyck comedy is itself equally bland but does provide easygoing entertainment. Dyan Cannon plays a popular TV chef whose producer dreams up an `at home' live Christmas broadcast entertaining hero hick forest ranger Kris Kristofferson. Only trouble is, they have to create a whole family for bachelor lady Cannon. The farcical proceeding sometimes fall flat but Cannon and Tony Curtis, as her producer, provide the sparkle. Debut director Arnold Schwarzenegger needed a firmer hand on the proceedings. Still, a good first effort, but like the man said, comedy is hard, and maybe Arnie (who also appears very briefly) should have tried a straight drama as a first attempt.
