A starry cast and a well-written script are highlights of this entertaining-enough slice-of-married-life drama that's not as black as most critics painted it, even though it sat on the shelf two years before release. The story follows the complex relationships of three very different New York who becomes the unlikeliest of firm friends, and the dramatic events that unfold will hold great interest for fans of such `old pals` movies as The Big Chill and Grand Canyon. Absorting and involving thanks to its cast (especially Masterson and Channing), but let down by characters that are often annoying, and by a cloying, too-good-to-be-true ending.
