There are some good moments but lots of chances missed in this action comedy which at least lives up to its title by spending 95 per cent of its footage on one car chase. Charlie Sheen, convicted of an armed robbery he was nowhere near, flees from justice and is unluckily trapped by two local cops and grabs the nearest bystander (Kristy Swanson) as hostage, finding out later that she's the daughter of the richest man in the state. The chase starts well, with lots of incident, but really needs to sustain the serious comic mayhem on the freeway at a blood-surging rate if it's to carry us along for the ride. Nor do we believe for a moment kidnapper and hostage making love at the wheel at 80 miles an hour after she has fallen for his innocence - quite apart from it putting the brake on the thrills and spills. Given the stop-go pace, credibility takes a back seat long before the end, despite a personable performance by Sheen himself. You might also spot a guest shot from Cary Elwes as a newscaster to whom spontaneity is a complete stranger.
