Fast, funny, landmark sex comedy driven along with irresistible verve by Mike Nichols, whose Academy Award as Best Director was amazingly the only Oscar that the film won. Spot-on performances from Dustin Hoffman, Anne Bancroft and Katharine Ross, superbly sympathetic song score from Simon and Garfunkel and an agonising, cliff-hanging ending all contribute to the film's stunning feelgood impact.
