An everybody-is-corrupt thriller which involves a TV exposé man inviting three old friends for a reunion weekend knowing them all to be Russian agents. But beware: this plot is so fiendish it baffled even critics at the time. The film itself is a bit slow, but quite fun when it gets going with its killing spree towards the end, although we wish the TV man's wife had been allowed to kill everyone with her bow and arrow. Rutger Hauer is adequate as the TV man, John Hurt good as a warped CIA agent, and Burt Lancaster familiar doing his corrupt older statesman bit as a grim CIA chief. Director Sam Peckinpah's last film.
