Sexual molestation and the resulting tug-of-love custody battle between the mother and father of a six year-old girl provide the central thrust of this safe but sure 'important issue' drama logically directed by Leonard Nimoy.
Diane Keaton brings all her scatty sincerity to bear on the role of Anna, a recently divorced mother whose new life is turned upside down by the arrival into her heart of iconoclastic sculptor Leo (Liam Neeson).
The little girl involved in the complicated adult melange that results, played nicely by Asia Viera, is apparently encouraged to touch Neeson's private parts.
When she tells her daddy (James Naughton) he rightly hits the roof and demands custody. Keaton's chaotic and dilettante lifestyle leaves her without a leg to stand on.
Moving but not overtly gooey, this contentious matter is a subject not many directors would dare to try. Worthy, and well acted too, by a good cast which also includes veterans Jason Robards and Ralph Bellamy.
