Anna Chlumsky - Macaulay Culkin's sidekick in My Girl - stars as one of a trio of dissatisfied kids in this fun family film. All Sissy Spacek's kids want is a mum who won't tell them off. When they hear of an ancient spell that makes mothers disappear they try it and, hey presto, they are free to find their perfect mum. It's a moralistic tale in which we know the kids will want their real mum back. But the lessons they learn make entertaining viewing, even if it's all a bit too cute.
