An absolutely abysmal French time-travel comedy that hit a home run with the Froggies and became their biggest local box-office success of all time. But once again the Brits knew better and boycotted it in both subtitled and dubbed versions. Funny thing, though, the humour's the very kind of nudge-nudge, wink-wink low comedy some Brits like, and we think the French hate. The normally great Jean Reno blots his copybook for ever with his throwaway performance here, though admittedly Christian Clavier is much, much worse, in a plot about an effete 12th-century French aristocrat and his boorish servant being transported into the present and trying to adjust to the odd ways of today's France.
