Michael Ironside plays a rancher whose land is coveted by nasty railroad baron Bruce Dern. Dern frames Ironside, who is thrown into jail. While he languishes there his family is butchered and his land stolen. Years later, Ironside escapes and then plots his revenge. But a US marshal (Keith Coulouris) and a bounty hunter (Vondie Curtis-Hall) are on his trail... Bafflingly, what starts off looking like an intense and violent revenge Western turns itself on its head and becomes a winking comedy in the style of The Sting. It's not bad if you don't mind the change of tone.
