Steely-eyed Ray Liotta plays the hero in a piece of futuristic action hokum as Robbins, a convicted murderer (innocent, naturally) sent to a special penal colony from which no one escapes alive. On the island there are two factions: the Outsiders, a group of savages led by Marek (Stuart Wilson, who's so good he almost steals the film) and the Insiders, more peaceful colonists led by Father (Lance Henriksen). The twists in the plot don't make a lot of sense but Liotta makes an effective action man and the violent set-pieces are virtually non-stop.
