This TV movie biopic of country singer Dottie West - nicely played and sung by Michele Lee - is given credibility by a host of special guest appearances that include Chet Atkins, Kris Kristofferson, Loretta Lynn, Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson and the queen of country herself, Dolly Parton. Dottie's life was classic rags to riches: forced to look after her nine younger brothers and sisters at the tender age of 12, she decided there and then that one day she'd buy a large house so that all the family could always be safely together. In a fairy-tale way, she met and hung out with people like Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson, learned her trade, and the rest, as they say, is history - not only Dottie's, but that of country music as a whole.
