Here comes that Diabolique story again, in a variant on the classic French film of the Fifties, which beat the Sharon Stone cinema version by over a year. Here it's Melissa Gilbert and Kate Vernon as the wife and mistress who plot a brutal husband's death. Closer to the original than the Stone version, this is also quite a bit better than Sharon's film, and proficiently directed by Mimi Leder, who has since moved on to cinema fare. Diverting if you haven't seen the story before and missing only the unique chilly atmosphere of the original.
