This lightweight comedy only plays at being sophisticated. Matchmaker Charles Boyer finds a suitable mate (a youngish Ricardo Montalban) for heiress Hope Lange, but she falls for Glenn Ford, a humble chauffeur. Given the sparkling cast, this should have been even better. The stars do shine, but are hampered by a naive script in a film that's fun to be with, even if it doesn't actually amount to much. If you're an incurable romantic, though, you should enjoy this expertly-made Technicolor frolic. Lange has some lavish costumes and the film is brim-full of gaiety and romance, with Boyer fizzing around like a champagne cork. What a shame the script is such stale beer.
