Melissa Joan Catherine Hart grew up in Sayville, New York. Blonde blue-eyed child performer, Melissa's acting debut came in 1980 at the age of four when she was in an advert for a doll.
Five years later she progressed to TV movies as Florentyna on CBS's Kane and Abel; The Lucie Arnaz Show and Saturday Night Live.
Still a child, in 1989 Melissa acted alongside Martin Sheen in a revival of Arthur Miller's The Crucible, and then with New York's Circle Repertory Company.
After this she returned to TV to a starring role on Nickelodeon's popular teen series, Clarissa Explains It All.
Her dramatic acting debut came in 1996 in the TV movie Twisted Desire and in the same year, along with her mother, and agent, Paula Hart, she created the role of Sabrina The Teenage Witch in a movie which soon turned into a prime time teenie TV sitcom.
In 1999 Melissa starred in the Teen movie Drive Me Crazy and in the year 2000 she made her directorial debut with an episode of Sabrina.
