The Emmy-nominated veteran X-Files director was given the job of bringing Marvel Comics heroine Elektra to the big screen.
Jennifer Garner played the hit-girl for hire in the Daredevil movie spin-off which also starred Terence Stamp and Goran Visnjic.
Earlier, big screen outings include adventure comedy Airborne and the 2002 action drama Reign of Fire, starring Matthew McConaughey and Christian Bale.
On the TV, Bowman has helmed many of the most commercially and critically successful series of the past two decades.
His credits include Star Trek: The Next Generation, Alien Nation, Baywatch, The Hat Squad and 21 Jump Street.
He directed and produced many episodes of The X-Files, for which he received 3 Emmy Award nominations, and in 1998, brought the characters to the big screen with the X-Files movie.
