It's positively creepy that this twisty thriller about Dempsey Cain, a cop (Christopher Reeve) disabled in action and confined to a wheelchair was made just before the real-life accident that paralysed the star. Try not to let that put you off, though, as this is an exceptionally cleverly constructed piece, written in consortium by director Steven Schachter, co-star William H Macy and co-producer Jerry Lazarus: perhaps they devised situations that the next writer had to turn on their heads! Reeve gets able assistance from Joe Mantegna, from Sex and the City's Kim Cattrall (as Cain's bitch of a wife) and from Macy himself as they keep you guessing who's trying to get rid of whom in a seat-gripper that keeps you hopping to the end.
