L?on (Jean Reno), a milk drinking, plant loving French assassin at large in America, is invulnerable as long as he works alone. But the moment he opens his door to a 12-year-old (Natalie Portman), whose family has just been massacred by a posse of corrupt policemen, you know he's doomed. L?on takes the girl under his wing and he begins to teach her the rudiments of his trade. But her heart's desire for revenge on the cops is destined to make their relationship sweet but short. Gary Oldman is great as the over-the-top psycho-cop villain, and there are some great set-pieces among the snappy dialogue.
