This film sets out with lofty intentions to be a powerful drama about racism, but in the end, it fires only blanks. The best thing about it is the central performance of former L. A. Law star Jill Eikenberry. She's a Southern belle who decides to break the wall of silence surrounding the burning of a Mexican church that has left two youths seriously injured, after learning that her husband was one of three men responsible. Her spirited portayal of a devoted mother and wife whose conscience finally gets the better of her hides the fact that the script is all surface show and is not the match of its classy cast, which includes Peter Coyote as her wayward husband.
