Miracle On 34th Street - 1994 Submit your own review for this movie

Miracle on 34th Street

Six-year-old Susan has doubts about the existence of Santa Claus. Her mother told her the "secret" about Santa a long time ago, so Susan doesn't expect to receive the most important gifts on her Christmas list. But after meeting a special department store Santa who's convinced he's the real thing, Susan is given the most precious gift of all - something to believe in. Richard Attenborough stars in this remake of the classic Christmas fantasy.

Miracle On 34th Street

Director Les Mayfield's previous credit, California Man, held out little hope of any subtlety in this second remake of the story of an elderly man hired to be a Christmas store Santa Claus who really believes himself to be Claus.

If finesse is predictably lacking in the treatment, Richard Attenborough turns out to be inspired casting as Kris Kringle, as perfect as Edmund Gwenn was almost 50 years before.

Elizabeth Perkins is a down-to-earth heroine and Mara Wilson an uncute moppet, though Dylan McDermott is a boring hero.

The courtroom scenes, although foolish, just about work.

My favourite film ever!! This film is so magical, gets you in the Christmas mood!!! I like to watch it all year round, it makes me believe in magic again! Richard Attenborough is a wonderful Santa Claus, and Mara Wilson is the sweetest child.
