Chris left Atlanta (where his classmates called him Little Eddie Murphy) and headed to L.A. where he tore up the comedy circuit soon after arriving in town.
His stand-up work on Def Comedy All-Star Jam in 1992 led to his first feature role in House Party 3.
Since starring opposite Ice Cube in the surprise hit Friday, Chris began to appear in more movies, with his break-out appearance alongside Bruce Willis in Luc Besson's futuristic The Fifth Element.
He next starred opposite Charlie Sheen in Money Talks, for which he also served as executive producer.
Chris teamed with Hong Kong star Jackie Chan for the hit action comedy Rush Hour which proved so successful that three years later came the sequel Rush Hour 2, and the third instalment sees Chan and Chris team up again.
In 2002, Chris directed, co-write, and starred in Mr. President.
