Unfortunately the story is slimmer than a supermodel in this live-action adventure comedy with Lori Petty visually perfect as the title character, and fast with the hip banter too.
Naomi Watts is too pretty and talented for the heroine's own good, though, as her cohort Jet Girl and Malcolm McDowell surprisingly a touch less OTT than usual as the villain intent on taking over a comet-devastated world's water supply - while desert warrior Tank Girl, who naturally bears a charmed life, attempts to stop him.
Her army of kangaroo men is funny rather than threatening, but the music is good, including a wickedly choreographed version of Cole Porter's Let's Do It set in a futuristic brothel.
It's noisy throughout, but is prone to getting a tad slow. Not the most popular comic book adap, and not the best, but definitely worth a look.
