If this were the story of the rise and fall through drink and drug abuse of a major British TV news presenter, then it would be of interest. But you may well never have heard of America's newscaster Jessica Savitch, so the film will have limited appeal. The fact that it's an unsympathetic portrait only adds to the problems of this thin material. Sela Ward does what she can with the script as offered, but it's a one-note production - a shrill one at that.
