The former ballet student won praise for his role as Tilda Swinton's gay son in the dark thriller The Deep End.
While in the third grade of school he was cast in a Boston Ballet production of The Nutcracker.
After receiving his primary education in Boston, Tucker relocated to the West Coast to receive further coaching at the Thatcher School in California.
Though subsequently accepted for early admission at Columbia University, Tucker deferred in favor of actively pursuing a career as an actor.
Following his film debut in the comedy Troublemakers his career began to flourish with more substantial roles in Two if by Sea and Sleepers.
A role in Sofia Coppola's The Virgin Suicides followed before the call came to play the closeted homosexual murder suspect in The Deep End in 2001.
Subsequent headline roles followed in the comedy-drama Ball in the House and the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
