Brenda Blethyn and Julie Walters turn in variants on their well-honed acts as salt-of-the-earth factory girls who enjoy nothing more than making fun of the boss and playing bingo. Then, lo and behold, Brenda wins the cash jackpot but loses in the lotto of life by contracting cancer. Brenda and Julie head off to Las Vegas for a final fling and meet up with handsome stranger Kris Kristofferson. The wittily written story is funny and devastatingly upsetting, and the impeccable star duo is a joy in a winning double act. If you don't laugh and cry barrel-loads, you must be asleep.
