Poignant account of the devastating events that effectively ended World War Two in August 1945, this harrowing TV movie, partly based on Michihiko Hachiya's Hiroshima Diary, was made to mark the 45th `anniversary' of the bombing. A good cast, including Judd Nelson, Max von Sydow and Kim Miyori, play the film with suitable gravitas as the events are recalled and reacted to by individual survivors. One stand- out scene involves two American soldiers, just released from their PoW camp, surrounded by Japanese: then they realise the Japanese soldiers have been blinded by the blast.
