Rachael Stirling, March 2004

Rachael Stirling

Born: May 30 1977
Where: UK

The actress made her feature debut in the rock comedy Still Crazy but is best known to British audiences for the lesbian costume drama Tipping The Velvet.

The daughter of actress Diana Rigg, she obtained a history of art degree from Edinburgh University and counts horseriding among her skills.

"I don’t want to be a flash in the pan. I want to be around, working, when I'm 70 and I don’t think you get there by flying."

Her first stage appearance was in Othello at the National Youth Theatre in 1997 and the following year she made her feature debut in Still Crazy with Tim Spall and Bill Nighy.

Minor film appearances included Maybe Baby and Ian Banks' Complicity, which bizarrely never received a theatrical release.

In 2001, she starred in the Edwardian crime drama Another Life and followed it with the romantic comedy The Triumph of Love with Ben Kingsley.

TV work includes In The Beginning opposite Jacqueline Bisset and Tipping The Velvet alongside Keeley Hawes and Anna Chancellor.

In 2004, she starred opposite Lee Evans in the crime thriller Freeze Frame.
