Sissy Spacek and David Strathairn dominate this powerful film about a woman's fight to save her old school sweetheart from the electric chair. Pam (Spacek), happily married, hears that Russell (Strathairn) is on Death Row for killing a policeman. He is a Vietnam veteran suffering from Post Traumatic Shock syndrome, a fact that was ignored by the courts at his trial. She determines to save him, causing turmoil at home and a strain on her marriage. A fine script by Doug Magee and sensitive direction by Tony Bill ensure that this is a superior drama.
