The former athlete has enjoyed roles ranging from Holly Hunter's masseur in Living Out Loud to a doomed diver in the thriller The Cave.
Born and raised in California, he began his acting career aged 12 in a Coca Cola advert.
However, he put his film career on hold to pursue sport at college, including football, baseball and soccer.
But an injury during his first year at the University College of Los Angeles prompted a return to acting.
He starred in the Emmy Award-winning TV movie Kids Killing Kids and went on to appear in shows including Beverly Hills 90210, Baywatch Nights and Sabrina The Teenage Witch.
Aaron Spelling cast him in Sunset Beach and he also starred in the TV movie Logan's War: Bound By Honour.
In 1998, he starred in Living Out Loud and also had a supporting role in the romantic comedy Say It Isn't So.
In 2005, he starred alongside Cole Hauser and Lena Headey in the subterranean horror yarn The Cave.
