The actress is best known for the role of Velma Dinkley in the live action Scooby Doo series with Sarah Michelle Gellar.
An actress from the age of five she first appeared on TV in the series Bone Chillers and made her big screen debut in the comedy The Good Burger.
Small roles followed in Dead Man on Campus and the internet thriller Strangeland as well as the romantic comedy Prince and the Surfer.
Cardellini, who also graduated with a degree in theatre from Loyala Marymount University in 2002, also appeared as a contestant on The Price Is Right - and she won a fireplace.
In 2001, she landed her most high-profile role in Legally Blonde and was also appearing in episodes of Clueless and 3rd Rock from the Sun on TV.
Next up was the Andy Garcia thriller The Unsaid and then she was cast by Raja Gosnell as Velma in Scooby Doo.
Subsequent appearances include the independent feature Welcome to LaLa Wood opposite Martin Short and a recurring role in the TV series ER.
