John Lee Hancock

The writer and director is best known for his action movie The Alamo starring Billy Bob Thornton and Jason Patric.
After studying English at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, Hancock made his feature debut with the romance Vaya Con Dios in 1991.
He went on to write screenplays for movies including The Perfect World and Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil as well as directing TV's LA Doctors and Falcone.
"If everyone in Texas made his or her own Alamo, there would be that many different versions of the story. It's like somebody making a movie about my mother."
In 2002, he returned to the big screen with The Rookie, with Dennis Quaid as an inspirational major league coach.
