John Landis, director of the original American Werewolf in London, has nothing to do with this sequel and all the quirky humour and digs at Americans abroad and British 'locals' at home is swapped for formulaic teen horror trash that reminds the viewer more of the awful Howling sequels.
It might be considered a failure on all accounts if it weren't for the performance of Julie Delpy, who plays the offspring of Jenny Agutter and David Naughton from the original.
She carries the curse and is desperate for release.
Cue hunky American tourist and nasty French werewolf clans.
