The young actor was thrust into the limelight aged 14 when he was cast opposite Helen Mirren in the TV series Prime Suspect 3.
After that he specialised in TV roles demanding a roguish East End kid with parts in A Touch of Frost and The Ruth Rendell Mysteries.
In 1999, he won critical acclaim for the part of Moff in his feature debut Human Traffic and went onto star in The Trench and Borstal Boy.
In 2001, he starred in Nick Love's directorial debut Goodbye Charlie Bright and raised his profile with Mel Smith's High Heels, Low Lifes.
Dyer joined Vinnie Jones, Jason Statham and Jason Flemyng in the prison comedy Mean Machine and also provided the voiceover for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
A seasoned theatre actor, he has also starred in a number of high-profile productions, including Harold Pinter's No Man's Land and Peter Gill's Certain Young Men.
Recent film work includes his second collaboration with Nick Love - The Football Factory - a controversial look at soccer violence.
