The Scottish actor's most high profile role was in Stephen Fry's Bright Young Things.
He made his feature debut playing Charlie in John Strickland's Greenwich Mean Time and followed that up with the horror yarn Long Time Dead with Joe Absolom.
He is best known to international audiences for the role of Paul in the American TV series Dune and Children of the Dune, based on the Frank Herbert book.
British TV work includes Judge John Deed, Night Flight. Silent Witness and Dangerfield.
On stage, he played opposite Cate Blanchett in Jonathan Kent's Plenty.
Recent work includes Penny Woolcock's controversial The Principles of Lust with Marc Warren and Sienna Guillory.
