This long-drawn-out romantic comedy is a British Random Hearts. Kate (Kerry Fox), aspiring writer of 'smutty bodice-rippers', crunches into the Jag of car salesman Dave (Ray Winstone doing an impression of Terry Venables) outside a pub. At each other's throats, their screeching match comes to an abrupt halt when they realise their partners have called them there to say they're running off together. After a carload of clichés, enough expletives to put £50 in a swearbox at 10p a time and a year's worth of unlikely misunderstandings, this ends much as you'd expect. GOOF: Watch for the scene where Dave swigs his beer and puts the can down, only for it to disappear in the reverse shot.
