Shock! The cartoon Scooby gang, Mystery Inc, has succumbed to scepticism and split up - yes, the quintet have twigged that they always foil crime capers by unmasking a man in a ghoul/monster suit, and they're fed up with the sham. But then they are persuaded to reassemble, and go off determinedly in search of real ghosts in a haunted house. And, on Zombie Island, we find such bizarre happenings as brainy Velma levitating. The discovery of a skeleton eventually leads to a battle with the living dead, who don't seem to be just baddies dressed up. Surely not! This zany cartoon has unusually well-rounded characters and takes sly digs at the Scooby team, making it refreshingly good fun for most viewers.
