The former N Sync frontman and solo hip hop star has made an impressive foray onto the big screen.
He delivered critically acclaimed performances in the sultry southern drama Black Snake Moan as well as the hard-hitting drama Alpha Dog.
The son of an entertainment executive and a choir director, his parents divorced when he was five.
He grew up in Millington and his first attempts at a singing career saw him singing country music songs on Star Search as Justin Randall.
In 1993, he got a real taste of fame when he joined the ranks of The Mickey Mouse Club.
There he met future girlfriend and pop superstar Britney Spears, future tourmate Christina Aguilera, and future bandmate JC Chasez.
When the show ended in 1995, Timberlake recruited Chasez to be in a new all-male singing group Lou Pearlman was forming with Chris Kirkpatrick - N Sync.
He made his big screen debut with a small role in the crime drama Longshot in 2000 and the same year was cast as Jason Sharpe in the made-for-TV movie Model Behavior.
In 2002, he released his debut solo album, Justified, which sold over seven million copies worldwide, and began working seriously on his movie career.
His first memorable role was alongside Morgan Freeman and Kevin Spacey in the 2005 crime drama Edison.
The following year he starred in Alpha Dog with Bruce Willis and he played Christina Ricci's soldier boyfriend in the drama Black Snake Moan.
