That this romantic comedy from the pen of Ben Elton is so resolutely below-the-belt shouldn't surprise anyone - since the whole plot is about a childless couple (Joely Richardson, Hugh Laurie) trying to conceive. It's a pity, though, that it raises so few laughs, merely a chuckle or two. Rowan Atkinson has a few amusing moments as a gynaecologist, but Laurie and Richardson are only barely up to their often embarrassing task and can't convince us that their relationship is as deep as we're meant to think. Joanna Lumley, Dawn French and Emma Thompson pop up in guest roles.
