The director first attracted attention with independent teen horror yarn Ginger Snaps in 2000.
Co-written with screenwriter Karen Walton, the offbeat vampire tale won the International Horror Guild award for best movie.
Fawcett made his big screen debut with the shorts Half Nelson and Scratch Ticket before directing episodes of Xena: Warrior Princess and La Femme Nikita.
He made his big screen debut in 1997 with the crime thriller The Boys' Club starring Chris Penn.
After Ginger Snaps, he directed episodes of the American version of Queer As Folk and the TV movie Lucky Girl.
Recent work includes the Wales-set horror yarn The Dark, starring Sean Bean and Maria Bello.
