For the first hour, this all-black film holds the attention. Alas, its debutante director seems so in love with her plot that she loses her objectivity and lets it drift on far too long. Even so, the film's attention to genuine relationships is commendable. Quincy, son of a basketball star, is amazed to find that neighbour Monica is pretty much as good at the hoop game as him. At college Monica (Sanaa Lathan), an undisciplined player, has to fight her way up, while Quincy (Omar Epps) has it easy. They also embark on an affair... Although both stars look too short to have hoop dreams, they've obviously worked hard on the moves and Lathan in particular brings a winning personality to her role.
